Which Ukulele Strings do you Prefer?
I am going to buy some Ernie Ball cobalt Super Slinkys and I figured that I would pick up some uke strings while Im at it. I just don’t know which ones to get. I was originally going to buy some Aquilas, but amazon.com ran out of stock of the ernie ball guitar strings. So I then went to musiciansfriend.com to get the ernie balls, but they dont have aquilas, just d’addarios, GHS, Martin, and Black Diamond. I have a cheap soprano uke, so I need some decent stings. Any reccomendations?
I am probably not going to be much help here, but strings are a personal choice. They are also cheap enough to test out, and the beauty of nylons, is you can try them for a day or two, and if you don’t like, they can be used again.
Also, different ukes suit different strings so one size doesn’t fit all.
For me I have the following on my ukes, having tried pretty much every brand on each uke.
Makala Dolphin – Aquilas
Mainland Concert – Martin Flourocarbon
Kanile’a Tenor – Worth CM
Koaloha Soprano – Worth CM
Flea – Worth BM
Fluke – Worth CM
Now that isn’t to say the Worth brand is best. I tried worths on the Mainland and just didn’t like them.
It’s also worth noting that Aquilas seem to be the defacto best string choice for very cheap ukes.
Hope that helps – link below will take you to many other beginners tips.
