Grey pant (not dress or jeans) white or light purple dress shirt, black bow tie, black Velvet button vest (similar to what you wear under a tux) and black dress shoes. How does that sound for dressing up nice?
Where are you going a party? Wedding? If you’re going to wear just the vest, make sure it has material on both sides. I suggest a purple or blue dress shirt with a white collar and silver cuff links if you have them. Black shoes and belt with purple or white accents to complement. The black bow tie is boring, go for a white stripped one or dark pink with gray the idea is for the tie to stand out. Also it will help to have a white dress jacket or multicolored sport coat.
